Reiki Prayer
For The New Millennium

If you have taken a Usui Reiki class, you have been exposed to the Usui Reiki Prayer. It's a wonderful prayer that Dr. Usui was said to have written as a gift to his students who needed a method, something to ground on to.

I am a student of affirmations based on the teachings and research by Dr. Georgi Lazonoff. Lazonoff was a Bulgarian psychologist who was fascinated with Auto Suggestion, the technology of what we say to ourselves. Lazonoff went on to perfect a technique where he was able to teach people a foreign language with a 90% retention rate after 30 days. He had his student lie down and listen to foreign language words, in a relaxed state, while also listening to Baroque music. It's an amazing story that you can read about in the Book "Super Learning."

Another thing they learned was that affirmations seemed to work best when they are worded with between 5 to 9 words. Fewer words and the content was lost. More words, and the subconscious had a more difficult time holding on to the affirmation. And to complete the package, they figured out that the affirmation had to be in the clear, positive, present tense.

So... with that in mind, I made a few adjustments to the Traditional Usui Reiki Prayer, reformatting each line into no more than nine words in the clear, present tense. So, here it is...

THE NEW REIKI PRAYER©

By Reiki Master K. Scott Teeters

TODAY... I am Confident
and Strong.

TODAY... I am Happy
and Cheerful.

TODAY... I am Thankful for
ALL of my Blessings.

TODAY... I am Honest and Gentle
with Myself and Others.

TODAY... I am Kind
to Every Living thing
.

Here's the original...

Just for today, I will not worry
Just for today, I will not be angry
Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings
Just for today, I will do my work honestly
Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing

What I did was shorten each line and rephrase some of the lines
so that they are in the clear, positive, present tense.
The end result is that each line reads easier and is
completely positive. I hope that you like it.

Namaste...

Scott
