"Meditation To Connect With Your Highest Potential Self"

This meditation exercise will help you to connect with that aspect of your consciousness that is your highest potential self. You may want to play some soft relaxing music in the background. You may also want to record this meditation and play it so that you can devote your full attention to the exercise. You may practice this meditation individually or in a group.

Begin by focusing on your breathing.

Allow yourself to take deep abdominal breaths.

Allow the breath to flow without force.

Feel your self begin to relax as though you could drift away.

With your inner eye, “see”, sense or imagine that you are in a place that you find very relaxing. It could be the beach or the mountains.

Feel and sense this location in as much detail as possible without straining to think about it.

See or sense a wall of fog or smoke in front of you.

It appears dark and cloudy to you. The wall is an illusion.

You notice something forming in the wall. It is a figure, a form of a person.

You are curious but not afraid. The figure passes through the wall.

You recognize the figure as yourself, but somehow different.

You sense a lovingness, a completeness, a sense of fulfillment radiating from this being.

She or he is dressed perfectly, hair and clothing immaculate, radiant smile, radiating unconditional love for you.

She or he takes your hand and escorts you toward the wall.

At first you may feel hesitant or afraid, but he/she reassures you and you feel safe with him/her.

You wonder what is on the other side of the wall.

You have always been afraid to go there, but you trust this being.

She/he wishes to show you your highest potential.

She/he escorts you through the wall.

As you walk through the wall you begin to see the vision of yourself achieving your greatest potential, fulfilling all of your dreams and achieving things you never even thought to dream of.

Notice what you are doing.

You may ask to explore different aspects of your life; your home, your family, your career, gifts, talents, abilities, relationships, etc.

You begin to feel this new sense of awe, of excitement, adventure.

Your heart fills with joy; you feel this great sense of fulfillment and purpose.

You now understand your life purpose and come away with a renewed sense of meaning and purpose in your life. It is now time to return.

This guide, which is you, escorts you back to the wall you initially crossed through. But the wall is no longer dark and cloudy. It is transparent and you can see though it.

You thank your future self for this wonderful journey.

She/he tells you that she/he is always there to help guide you toward your highest future potential, which already exists now.

She/he thanks you for taking this journey with her/him and tells you she/he has one more gift for you. You feel his/her essence merge with yours.

You have now become one with the essence of your fullest potential. You return through the transparent wall and find yourself back where you began with a deeper sense of purpose and direction in your life.

Take a few slow, deep abdominal breaths and begin to feel your body.

Wiggle your fingers and toes, feel your hands and feet.

Do some light stretching of your arms and legs. Slowly open your eyes.

Journal your experiences. Write down what you “saw” with your inner eye, felt or sensed, “heard” or noticed, and any thought impressions that came to your mind during this process.

How do you feel after this exercise?

How does this compare to your feelings before this exercise?

If you decide to do this with a group, feel free to share your impressions with the group, but do not feel obligated to do so. Your experience is individual and personal.

Peace - Robin

Living in the Present Moment

By Robin Pearl Smith

We often get caught up in our linear world of deadlines and expectations. We tend to relive the past, stuck on past memories of happy events, rehashing how we should have handled a situation we feel badly about, worrying about an unpleasant past event repeating itself. We tend to worry about the future or look to the future for things to improve or our dreams to come. In this space, we lose sight of our connection with our true selves, our wholeness, our inner perfection, our sense of purpose. This state of wholeness is our state of being. Our existence, our purpose comes from our being and experiencing what life has to offer; not just what we believe we are required to do to survive or to meet others expectations. Appropriate actions will naturally flow from our place of being. As we align ourselves with the natural flow of life we become more centered in our true power.

Present moment awareness brings us back to our own “eternal light.” Once back in this space, we can create our own reality, our own world of form in alignment with our soul’s true purpose. We can align ourselves with our own inner truths. As we learn to act and function from a state of being, we will find the flow in our lives. Merely, by changing the energy with which we approach a situation, we find that a sense of flow, a sense of balance, and an appropriate resolution can be achieved. When we are fully focused in the present moment, we become aware of the synchronicities that lead us to the fulfillment of our dreams. We are not our minds, or our emotions. We are formless, timeless, definitionless, consciousness. Our happiness can be found in each moment.

Below are some tips on how we can reconnect with this inner state of being:

1. Accept people and situations as they are, neither good nor bad. Release judgments as much as possible.

2. Be the neutral observer of your thoughts, feelings, reactions. As you become the watcher, you begin to realize that you are not your mind or your feelings. Your mental chatter begins to dissolve and you connect with your sense of being where the source of all solutions and creativity lies.

3. Much of our stress comes from identifying with form and time. As much as possible let go of time. Deadlines are often arbitrary. The world will not end if we are late.

Often appointments can be rescheduled or the situation adjusts itself so that the later time has a greater purpose, the other parties are also running late, the meeting has been postponed, etc.

4. We spend much of our time trying to live up to the expectations of others, bosses, family members, society. We might find the joy that often eludes us by spending some time focusing within to find our hearts desires, our unique talents, our natural gifts.

5. Stay present. Focus on sensations within your body, not what your mind tells you they mean. Just notice them.

If you find your mind running away in a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions:

1. Breathe into your abdomen (belly) and out through your heart chakra area.

2. If possible, shift your perception of the situation to one of gratitude, compassion, acceptance, knowing there is a greater purpose, a higher order.

3. Focus on an event/activity that brings you a sense of happiness, fulfillment, contentment, joy. Work on a favorite, hobby or creative activity.

4. Focus intently on the activity you are presently engaged in, such as noticing each step as you are walking and any sensations in your feet and legs, or noticing how your hand form the letters and words while writing a note.

5. Slow time down. Do tasks slowly, noticing each step of the process.

6. Notice the space between objects or the time gaps between thoughts.

7. Spend time in nature.

8. Observe, accept and appreciate, feel gratitude for your feelings in the present moment.

9. Focus on feeling the energetic aliveness of your being.
