Wild Weather Coming Soon?

Greetings All,
For many of you that have known me for a long time, you know of my long interest in automobiles and auto racing. It’s only been within the last year or so, as a result of quiet reflection and contemplation that I have remembered that before the day in 1964 when I saw a new shinny Corvette at the local Chevy dealership, I thought I wanted to be a scientist. But on that day, I became a “car guy” with science taking a seat way back in the bus. Reflecting back, I realize that before the car thing, I was moving into the direction of “earth sciences.”

Fortunately, I didn’t completely lose my interest in science. Over the last 10 years of so, there has been a gradual shift back to what I was so passionately interested in before the cars drove into my life. One area that I’ve been following is Global Warming. I can vividly remember the excitement of the first Earth Day in April of 1970. And since air pollution, automobiles, and petroleum powered internal combustion-powered machines are linked together, it’s something I’ve been following for a long time.

Over the last five years, I’ve been following some VERY startling news stories about the environment. It’s an interesting subject because there are opinions all over the map. Some feel that we’re driving at top speed for the cliff. Others believe all this global warming stuff is coming from a bunch of tree hugging do-gooder types.

But then late one night about four years ago, I just happened to catch a program on the Science Channel about a scientist who had researched the Gulf Stream and was saying that if the fresh water runoff from the glaciers in the north continues, the salt water will become diluted and the Gulf Stream will shut down. What’s the big deal? The Gulf Stream carries warm air into northern Europe and keeps it relatively warm. Without the Gulf Stream, the northern part of Europe would be subjected to extremely bad winters and could be plunged into another Ice Age. This actually happened a few hundred years ago. It’s in the historical records of what are now tepid regions in the British Isles having decades of horrific winters. Many of the Grime’s Fairy Tales that depict wolves at the door are portraits of that time.

Coincidental, at the same time in history, the Native Americans tell of extreme drought and forest fires in western America. If you’ve been following the news, this should sound familiar. Then there was the stunning experience of four major hurricanes hitting Florida in five weeks this past summer. Finally, it’s not just a bunch of tree huggers who are saying, “Isn’t the weather getting strange?”

One of my meditation teachers, Drunvalo Melchizedek, has posted a very interesting article with his insights and perspectives on this growing problem of wacky weather and global warming. If you are still of the opinion that all this is a bunch of BUNK, I ask you to consider that early this year, the Pentagon issued a report to President Bush expressing their concerns within the parameters of “national security.”

I feel that if the Pentagon is concerned about this, “We the People” should pay attention to what they have to say. If I have droned on too long and had bored you to distraction, you can just delete this. If I have your interest, please go to the link below and read Drunvalo’s article. He’s a brilliant and thoughtful man. His words have touched my heart before and perhaps he will touch yours as well.

With Love & Light... Shine on!

Scott

Here’s the link to Drunvalo’s thought provoking article. My only suggestion if for you to read it when you have the time to really let the words sink in. Please feel free to forward this on if your feel moved to do so.
