Here’s a new and different way for you to use the news media. Let’s face it, things have been pretty shaky and strange ever since 9-11. We had a war in Afganastan with a questionable peace and we STILL haven’t a clue as to where Osama Bin Laden is hiding. Then we had a spectacular war against Iraq that was broadcast live for everyone to see. Our overwhelmingly superior techno military redefined the term “blitzkrieg.” Now we are faced with the daunting challenge of maintaining peace and order while working to rebuild a nation. Not to mention that here in America we have all sorts of varied sensational crime stories and a corporate crime wave that is beyond most people’s ability to grasp.
It seems that 24 hour-a-day news keeps us filled with more than we ever wanted to know. Are we going to hell in a hand basket, or are we simply more aware of what’s going on? Clearly, we are being served “super-sized” portions of bad news. Ahhh... what is the awakened soul to do?
Many people get overwhelmed and become numb to the horror of how we treat each other. Many change the channel and watch sports or “reality” TV as a form of distraction. Or, they adopt the populist view that, “well, it’s just the liberal media spinning a story again.” The “liberal media” is a myth. It is a modern urban legend. Why do I say that? Because I follow the money trail.
Who owns all of the mass media? Major, globalist corporations, that’s who. The people who work for these corporations generally like their jobs, their position, and their pay checks. Stories are test floated in the media to check on public reaction. Stories contradict one another. Many of the important, behind the scenes stories are underreported on the ticker that runs along the bottom of the screen. This is so that they can say that the story was “covered.” The end result is that the public gets upset, confused, and blames the messenger instead of looking behind the curtain. The media is not liberal, it is manipulative, with an agenda that is not human friendly.
But you are DIFFERENT. You have begun to AWAKEN. I hope that you didn’t think that your interest in metaphysical and spiritual things was just an “interest.” Guess again... you’ve been DRAFTED into the Legions of Love & Light. As is pointed out in “The Course In Miracles,” - “You are in the room to HEAL the room. You are in the space to HEAL the space.” People all over are becoming nervous and frightened. People all over are in need of calmness and compassion. And you are the one who can help them in a most unexpected way
So how do we use the boob-tube as a focusing device? Here’s how. There are two distinct parts to this. First - DON’T turn off the news. Watch the news. Follow what’s going on. Be aware of what’s going on. Connect with the story. It is also good to have an alternative source of news, one that is not owned by a huge globalist corporation. Feel what’s going on, but DO NOT allow yourself to get pulled into the flame, otherwise you’ll just get cooked and burned out. Then you are of no use to anyone. Get close to what’s happening, but not too close. This is a balancing act and is not easy. But it is at least, the “passive” part.
Second - now, here’s the “active” part. If you have been trained in Reiki and know how to do Long Distance Healing, you have everything you need. If you haven’t had Reiki training, use whatever form of prayer or focused meditation you are comfortable with. Then, as you watch the reports and see people in distress, use your Long Distance Reiki healing technique and send Ki to those involved in the news report. Or send prayers of loving kindness. Long Distance Reiki WORKS. Group Prayer WORKS. These activities have been researched dozens of times and the results are always the same. IT WORKS. And know that you are not the only one. We will be doing this work in numbers and that will make it even more powerful.
(If you would like to read more about the mechanics of this kind of thinking, read Robert Oates book, “Permanent Peace” or any of Dr. Larry Dossey’s books on the power of focused prayer.)
Back in the ‘60s, Andy Warhol was famous for saying that in the future, everyone would have their 15 minutes of fame. This may have simply been Andy’s comment on the emerging media culture. But today, with 24/7/365 continuous news coverage, more people are ending up in the news. Unless it’s for an award or an accomplishment, you DON’T want to be in the news! There are many regular people who end up as part of "Breaking News", but remember that at a Soul level, they are just like you and me. “They” are really “Us.”
Now, rather than sticking your head in the sand or back under the covers, or simply becoming overwhelmed... simply and calmly... stop... notice what you have just seen on the screen, and send Ki or Loving Kindness to the people or situation. You and many others can now become part of the solution.
Remember the divinely inspired words of Saint Francis of Assisi:
"Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned."
It is my highest hope and intention that you will never again watch the news in the same way as you have in the past. Rather than be left feeling helpless and hopeless, you can use your spiritual energy in a positive, helpful way. If this idea resonates, pass it on to your metaphysical and spiritual friends. Start a news focus group if your feel motivated.
We don’t need to wait until we are completely enlightened and ascended before we can be a power source for healing and peace. If you are reading this, then you are closer than you realize.
The End.
