The Energetics of an Inspiration Room
Physical spaces hold energy. The shape of a room and how many openings have an affect of the energetics of the room. Most of us have experienced being in odd shaped rooms where the energy of the room felt stale or dead. On the other end of the scale, the cathedrals of Europe were intentionally designed to create a feeling of the expansiveness of the Universe with their tall, rounded ceilings and elaborate stained glass windows.
How a space has been used also has an affect on the energetics of the room. It is very common for people who visit the former concentration camps in Eastern Europe to feel depressed and anguished after their tour. Many have a similar experience when visiting the battlegrounds in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. That’s because the energy of the pain and suffering is still there. On a MUCH smaller scale, most of us have had the experience of walking into a room and feeling the chill of negative energy, only to find that people had been arguing or fighting prior to their arrival. These are real, palpable experiences.
There are several things to keep in mind when building your Inspiration Room. The first thing to do is to energetically cleanse the room. This is an especially good thing to do when you move into a new house, apartment, or office. The energy of the previous occupants is still there.
If you are trained in Reiki or Pranic healing techniques, you can use your skills to remove the negative energy the same as you would if you were giving someone a healing session. If you do not know Reiki or Pranic techniques, smudging with a sage stick is an excellent way to clear a space.

Since I spend time here during the day and evening, I often call it the "Sun-Moon Room." The happy Moon Face Clock is from the Pyramid Collection New Age mail order catalog. The swinging pendlum is a nice dash of charm.
If that’s all a little "woo-woo" for you, simply light a white candle and say a prayer to whom ever you spiritually relate to and ask them to assist you in clearing and cleansing your space. Be it Jesus, Buddha, your spirit guides, or guardian angels, if you ask for assistance it will always be there for you. Most people don’t realize how much assistance they have on the other side of the Light Barrier. No one, even the worst despot, is without spiritual help on the other side. Since Free Will is one of the over riding principals of all of Life, even God herself, will usually not interfere with our decisions and will only play a part if we ask.
After you have cleared and cleansed your space, set your intention for what you want to do with your room. This is an often over looked action. "Intention" is the precursor to attention and from there the old Huna expression unfolds - "Where attention goes... energy flows, and results show. If your intention is, "This is going to be my inspiration room" declare it. Say it out loud and make it a declaration, "This space is now my Inspiration Room."
Having cleared and cleansed your room and setting your intention, put some energy into the room, both spiritual energy and physical energy. Again, if you are versed in the energy modalities of Reiki or Prana, use your energy tools. If you are not yet an energyworker, ask for assistance from whomever you spiritually relate. Physical energy is just as important. Clean out the room. Repair anything that’s broken or needs to be fixed. Spruce up the place with things that make you "feel" good, that make you happy. When things make you feel good and happy, YOU are pulsing out positive, life affirming energy.

Enlisting Help from
the Mineral Kingdom
I have found that enlisting help from the Mineral Kingdom is VERY beneficial in holding the positive energy and good intentions of your efforts. I have done this in my last three dwellings and it has never failed me. This is a very simple technique that will make a difference. You can use either amethyst or quartz tumbled stones or points. Either will work just as well. Simply choose stones what speak to you - the stones that make you "feel good" when you look at them and hold them.
The Mineral Kingdom exists in a very slow vibrational state and all gemstone members are very good at holding energy patterns. You will be placing a single stone in each corner of your room. (I’ve done this in my entire house.) Before you put your stones to work, give them a bath. Crystal points have been hammered and broken out of their ancient rock homes. Tumbled stones have been literally rolled around in a canister for months until they are smooth and shiny. In other words, they’ve been through the mill and on a very long journey to get to your house.
There are many ways to clear and cleanse precious and semi-precious stones. Having been trained in Usui Reiki, I give the stones a short Reiki session. I first clear off my kitchen counter, tidy up my kitchen, and light a candle and smudge stick. I ground myself and ask for assistance from my Higher Self and my Guides. Then I gently wash off the stones in tepid tap water to remove physical dust and dirt. After that I dry them off and hold the stones in my hands while I talk to them in my mind. I thank them for coming into my life and ask them to hold the positive energy that I am setting for my spaces. And finally I smudge them by blowing smoke from a sage stick while assuring them that I will honor and respect the work and assistance they are giving me.
That’s just my particular way of working with my stone friends. Some people place their stones in a light salt solution and allow them to bathe in the Moonlight of a Waxing Moon to allow the Moon’s energy to clean, clear, and charge the stones. This technique also works well. Many of the earth based belief system books have various techniques for working with stones. All that’s needed is for you to find a method that feels right to you and do it.
After you have cleaned, cleared, and charged your stones, just place one in each corner of the room. While you’re doing this ask them again to hold the energy you have placed in the room and not allow any lower energies to enter into the room. However, higher energies are always welcome. I have done this in every room in my house, as well as my Inspiration Room.
I’ve also done this in my two previous dwellings, a rented townhouse and a one-bedroom apartment. The results have been that when friends or family come to our house, it is not uncommon to hear them say, "Your house feels really good." And believe me, it is not because we have expensive or elaborate furnishings. Far from it. It is the result of the intention, planning, attention, and the energy we have put into these dwellings. I even did this in the office I used to have at the toy company, and everyone really liked being in my office.

This is all that I use to work with my Mineral Kingdom friends. The sweet grass sage stick is for smudging and the candle is a common votive candle.
One cleared and charged stone in each corner is all you need to hold and maintain the positive energy in any room. Clear quartz is considered the grandfather of the Mineral Kingdom. Simple little tumbled quartz or amethyst stones will do the trick for you. Points will work just as well. Every few months I gather up our mineral friends, give them a bath, clear, and recharge them for another season's work.
